New Stars of Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley School perform in Hans Christian Andersen's THE UGLY DUCKLING created by three of Denmark's renowned artists — Bjørn Winblad, Lise la Cour and Bent Fabricius-Bjerre — direct from Copenhagen's Royal Opera House. This is a US Premiere performance, and is presented in celebration of Andersen's 200th birthday (April 2, 1805).

This production is one in a series of five ballets based on Andersen's stories that are exclusive to Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley School. Children of all ages (and adults who are young at heart) will thrill as this comical and lively creation brings life to this fairy tale by one of the world's greatest storytellers.

THE UGLY DUCKLING is a story of growth... a story of overcoming suffering and of transformations. A young creature (thought to be a duckling) endures many hardships alone in the world, before discovering that he is not a duckling at all, but a beautiful swan.

Lise la Cour originally created the piece as a children's ballet for the Old Stage at Royal Danish Ballet in 1989. A royal treat for then entire family.

Two performances only!
