2008/2009 Ballet Volunteer Opportunities
This season Ballet San Jose has volunteer
opportunities in the following positions:
School Matinee Visiting Docents
September 15th through December 12th 2008
Times vary
We expect between 150 and 200 schools to sign up
for our free matinee program for
schools. Our goal is to send a Docent to visit each school to prepare the
students for the theater performance they
will enjoy. For many of these students live theater is a totally new experience, and the Docent visit
makes an amazing difference in how they
appreciate the show. Docent visits take 20-30 minutes, and are scheduled directly between you and the teacher. Training and
materials are provided.
Outside staff at the CPA for student matinees
December 16, 17 and 18th, 2008
9:00 AM to 12:15 PM
We will have 2 performances each day for school
groups at 10:00 and 12:00 PM. Staff
will assist teachers with check in and maintain order as the children wait to enter the theater.
Nutcracker Experience - Characters and Wranglers
December
1st through the 28th, 2008
Various dates and times
Dress up as The Nutcracker, The Mouse King or Maria
and delight children of all ages. Wear the ÒPocket LadyÓ Dress, and pass out
toys to adoring children. Or help out by being a ÒWranglerÓ, a helper who keeps
an eye out for the costumed characters and who volunteers to take pictures with
peopleÕs cameras so the whole family can be in the frame.
Positions will be before every performance of The
Nutcracker and at local San Jose events and parades during the holiday season.
Volunteers wishing to be characters must come to the ballet office for a
costume fitting prior to the event.
Clerical and Office help
Various dates and times
The ballet is always grateful to have supportive
volunteers to help with mailings and other clerical duties.
